Surgery to shoulder or not?

Hi

I have had a problem in my left shoulder now for about 5 years. I have an impingement of  distal supraspinatus tendon with tendonitis. Mostly the pain and discomfort has been very manageable. But recently it has got a lot worse. I find it pretty hard to use my left arm when driving for long periods.

The pain is still not excruciating but it is constant and very annoying.

My question is should I go for surgery or not? What are people's thoughts who have had surgery? Was it successful or do you regret it?

Thanks

If you can manage the pain you have at the moment I wouldn't recommend surgery. 13weeks post op and had a torn tendon repaired and clean out rotary cuff. I'm in more pain now it's inflamed and waiting to have 2 injections. Still off work and at the moment can't see any light at the end. 😡
