Surgical stockings

hi my mum had a full hip replacement on Tuesday after a fall sad, since she came back from theatre she has not had stockings on, I questioned why not, and was told by a rather rude nurse that my mums consultant does not use them ? I have never heard of this, and am worried about blood clots etc, she is on blood thinning meds, but still. Looking for some reassurance really xx

I only wore them for a 2 weeks after getting out of hospital as there was no-one to put them back on. I took 150 mg/day aspirin for 6 weeks.

    Hi Rachael,

Because you mum is on blood thinners, it is okay to forego the stockings. Just have your mum point her toes and then pull her toes up to keep the swelling moving back towards her heart.

I was hospitalized four days, but everyone heals at different rates.

You mum sure is blessed to have you.

    hi rachel,

I hope your mind is at ease now and consider your mother blessed that she doesn't have to wear them ... I have read many a desperate post here about how terribel and evil they are ...eek-

big warm hug for both of you
