Survivors of Childhood Bacterial Meningitis

When my daughter was 3 years old, she came down with Bacterial Meningitis.  She's a thriving, grown woman today but as her Mother I have an interest in the after effects of the Meningitis and her long term health.

Upon releasing us from the hospital, her Pediatrician asked that I let him know if I detected any personality change.  I was a very young Mother at the time, and didn't understand what he meant.  I asked his nurse and she only commented that sometimes small children that have been ill and in the hospital can get used to all the attention and act out afterwards.  A couple of years ago, I was reading about the after effects of childhood Bacterial Meningitis and it talked about it often causing a personality change.

Have any of you experienced this?  Are there any other long term health consequences you've dealt with as a result of you or your child's Childhood Bacterial Meningitis?
