Suspected herpes, going mad!

Im 16 days into a suspected primary herpes outbreak. I had to go to the out of hours as mt doctors was shut and this was about 4 days after the initial symptoms appeared. I was in excrutiating pain to the point I nearly collapsed outside the doctors from stress and pain. I was prescribed 400mg 3x a day of Acyclovir and cocodamol for the pain. The cocodamol and Ibuprofen worked for pain aswell as cool showers to stop the burning. However I dont feel as though the Acyclovir has done much to stop the pain or the breakout heal quicker and faster. I keep wracking my brain about what else it could be but im 99.9% sure its herpes. I havent got the results yet but should i go back to the doctors? Im still in pain with burning/stinging and itching and it doesnt feel like painkillers are even doing the job anymore. Im at a complete and utter loss at what to do. Help!

I am not a doctor, but you can up that dosage to 800 three times a day for 2 days during an active outbreak. I believe that is right, to speed healing.

Its definately hsv-2 so I've been prescribed more Acyclovir and pain medication. Im going to take this for the next 5 days and see how it goes. I've read it usually only lasts about 4 weeks tops so hopefully this is me on the home run.

if the acyclovir doesnt help get them to try one of the others! i know they all convert to acyclovir but i found valtrexs works better for me!

Lidocaine gel!!! Stuff was a god send for my first outbreak! it numbs it so you get some relief! you can get a prescription or ask for an over the counter brand!

I would ice my hooha lots too lol

Take lots of Epsom salt baths! helps clean to prevent secondary infection and dries them out to quicken healing. if you have lavender essential oils, putting that in too!!

Lemon balm salve is great to help healing too
