Suspected hip area tendon rupture.

Hi all,

I've used forums on here for my hip ops, green lazer surgery for prostate to good effect.

But this is for my daughter who at 38 who has been suffering from a problem around the outer hip area. She was doing some treadmill jogging, 6 years and heard a slight pop around hip area and she but carried on jogging because there was no pain but next day she could not walk because of the pain.

Since then she has had 6 years of physios, lots of rest but when she start to exercise the pain comes back again. She has always been a keen swimmer and jogger but now its getting her depressed.

She lives near York, uk and Im thinking she needs to see a consultant who specialises in tendons/ muscles and wondered if anyone can shed any light on her condition and/or reccommend a consultant she could see.

I will ask her for more information about where the pain is but she has said its on the outside of the hip and down the side if thigh and also goes down from her hip down the inside if her thigh.

Hope someone can help and thanks for reading.

Tony

your right your daughter needs to see a ortho doc who specializes in hip pain/athletics. Mri for soft tissue and x-ray for bone. it sounds like it's more than a tendon . it could be osteoarthritis in the hip joint. an extremely painful condition that does not heal on its own. osteo is a progressive disease and active people can suffer from hip pain do to repetitive motion.

tendinitis can be treated with steroid injects and rest. of course once a doctor can make the analysis then a prognosis can be applied with special treatment to fit the injury.

    good luck.

      Hi Barbara,

Thank you for replying you're so kind.

I should have said that she has had x-rays and she doesn't have arthritis in the hip so it's something outside of the actual joint.

she is asking for another referral to a specialist by her doctor and hope that she can find a good one.

Thanks again for your help I will keep the board updated on progress.
