Suspected IBS - been given Mebeverine

Recently been to my GP and been given Mebeverine tablets (10 day) course for suspected IBS. However, I have not started taking them yet as my tummy pain, wind, bloating etc. follows a pretty regular pattern. It seems to come in the last week of my menstrual cycle. Has anyone else noticed this pattern?
My GP said I could take the tablets when I felt the onset of pain but I'm not sure if that means just take them for that day or take them for the 10 day prescription. What do others do?
My GP did give me a very useful print out on IBS with all kinds of suggestions for what triggers it, managing the symptoms etc. which I'd recommend.

Went to the docs today and got prescribed Mebeverine Hydrochloride which I started today and noticed some relief when I ate my evening meal. Whereas I am severly bloated which worsens when I eat and then end up with reflux and the rest of it.
I haven't been diagnosed with IBS and nor has the docs given a prognosis for this however the medication they have been prescribing me are for treating IBS symptoms (I always research meds before I take them - docs these days don't give you enough information and seem to throw meds at me for the sake of it). The doc today didn't comment on the menstrual cycle link so will wait for my referral to the specialist and see what they say. I will make another post here if I find anything. For now, I will continue with the Mebeverine Hydrochloride.
I had previously tried peppermint oil capsules which didn't help. I find Wind Eze or Rennie provides a little relief but very slow to act.

I was told this may have flared up since I had a sickness and diareaha bug in October and my stomach just hasn't settled.
