Svt ablation August 29th

I have been scheduled for an ablation at Barts hospital 29th August I have had 4 attacks in 18 months needing hospital help, I,ve had palpitations for 43 years, I,m 71 now.  I am concerned because I have read of people having worse symptoms after the operation, I have good and bad days with the palpitations but am active for my age and live a normal life.   I have a query because I don,t get this Svt regularly, I did not think the ablation was done unless it was.   I was put on bisoprolol last year, it made me feel like a zombie so when I saw the electrophysiologist he told me to stop it, after I was back to my normal self.  Is there anyone about my age that is similar to me had a successful ablation and did the palpitations stop.  I went to Barts yesterday for the pre tests and was surprised to be offered an ablation in 3 weeks time.  I am so afraid it will make    Me lose my independence. If only I had a crystal ball!

I am 69 and had my ablation 2 years ago and I'm glad I had it done. After the ablation, you might have palpitations for 3 months as it takes that long for the heart to heal and that's why you might have palpitations. I'm active, I exercise, etc. no other issues.

    Hi Ann,

Although I’m not the same age (42, male), I had accessory pathway SVTs and had my Ablation on 7/16/18. I am back to the gym, albeit taking it easy vs before ablation. I have not had any svts and my EP was confident he got the SVT(left atrium, 3 spots triggered and ablated). I’ve had 3-4 general Tachycardia but they’d go away in a few minutes and I think a lot was due to anxiety. I am hopeful it has worked and excited to getting back to a good quality of life, free from the worry of having an SVT and rushing off to the ER.
