Swallowing problems

So I've been going through various anxiety symptoms like tingling, chest pains, dizziness, rapid heart rate (panicking) etc but the most difficult one right now is definitely swallowing.

Since about 2 weeks ago, I've had a dry mouth and my saliva is either foamy or stringy... It's really difficult to swallow anything including my pills and water. This got worse on thursday where I couldn't finish my dinner and then even worse Friday and Saturday and I couldn't finish anything at all! I probably had a total of 100ml each day which obviously isn't good. So on Saturday I went into a walking clinic (dehydrated as HELL) and to cut the story short, they basically said I'm having acid refluxes (which could be causing the trouble swallowing and dry mouth). They gave me some medication thankfully but before I even took any medicine, I had some food and without realising it, I found that I could swallow decently? (I hope this makes sense?) The fact that I was swallowing decently in that moment makes me think that it's actually anxiety and overthinking that's preventing me from eating properly and it's not solely due to my dry mouth or acid reflux? I'm confused and it's been 2 days and I'm still struggling to eat and drink but no where near as bad as Friday or Saturday when I couldn't eat anything but I've never finished a meal, not even toast. Can I have some guidance please? Maybe it IS the acid refluxes but I'm just confused at this point

    Hi there,

This is a very typical anxiety symptom or could also be acid reflux or in my case it was lack of acid and I solved it by taking Betaine.

Ahhh thank you! I feel like I forgot to mention, sometimes when I do swallow without saliva at all, the water goes down but I have like an adrenaline rush and my heart always pounds... I'm praying this won't lead to any aspiration because it doesn't even feel like I'm swallowing it, the water just rushes down without any warning

By all means get it checked if necessary but honestly, anxiety and hyperfocusing can cause so many swallowing issues, once you are thinking about it, it stops being automatic and some really funky things start happening
