Just wondering if anybody has had this and found out what it was or what to do

It started 12 weeks ago with a sore throat swollen glands

Went to the drs given 2000 mg per day of penicillin v for 10 days

Didn’t make any difference went back to the drs and looked I. My mouth says there was a white spot on tonsils took a swab said it looks like it’s virus .

After 12 weeks it’s like just swallowing problems with saliva

I havent got a temperature but wake up throat is ok then after an hour or so start to feel like I have a kumpbwhen swallowing it gets worse through out the day but I can swallow wTer it’s not there and when I eat it’s sometimes ok but it goes from top of Adam’s apple to the bottom of the Adam’s apple I feel when I eat bread it’s going down slower

Managed to get an ent appointment next month but this is driving me crazy

Anybody else had these symptoms

Thanks

Hey Kevin are you feeling any better? It sounds like you might be suffering from something similar to me, but I've also had Flu-like symptoms along with it too.

It seems "virus" is my diagnosis also, but I'm waiting for the results on another strep test first.

Are you having tonsil stones, bad breath, dry mouth or any other symptoms along with adam's apple problem? Have you tried anything like the salt gargling or anything along those lines too?

      Hi thanks for your reply

I did have some dry mouth but I am on anotryptin for ibs and that can cause a dry mouth

I have an appointment next week to look at a swollen tastebud at the back of my tounge then I have an ent appointment in 3 weeks

It’s very strange as it feels like swollen glands that move around when I swallow saliva but not when eating and drinking but a know it’s diffrtent muscles that’s used fir the saliva than from food and drink if I’m active which I am a lot with my job I don’t feel it the same

I did have a biopsy done 3 months ago as the mri had shown a tumour in my prostrate  and had an infection which I was put on antibiotics for a month

And after thinking as the drs had said you look like it’s prostrate cancer fir 5 months it turned out calcium deposits there so I was happy with that and ever since then this has happened I have tried mouthwash etc it’s still there I hope you get to the bottom of your problem as well it’s a terrible feeling I will hopefully know more after I see the specialists

And I will fefginetky postvwhat my results are as I’m sure there is a lot more people with this problem than just the 2 of us

      No problem! :-)

I think I need to get an ENT appointment too, hopefully your's goes well!

It's interesting that you mention calcium deposits in another region, because tonsils stones can be caused by calcium deposits apparently. I wonder if there might be something causing that to happen? Could be worth investigating why our bodies might be depositing calcium in places it shouldn't.

Look forward to hearing good news on the results! :-D
