Swaying heavy and light boat feeling, light headed, anyone from Singapore

Posted , 9 users are following.

Hi,

I have been feeling a light headed, swaying heavy and light on a boat feeling for around 5 months now, non vertigo, when walking is like walking on plank, cotton ground, sometimes heavy and light

Feel better if in moving bus, since the sensation if about same

Also have a tight sensation under the bridge of nose linking to the head

I am a panicky and anxiety person by nature and sometimes awaken by nightmares of falling down sometimes back, but not to the extend of getting this swaying light headed feeling at all

One night i bumped my head on a wall, some slight blue black on the left forehead, but no vomit, fever, double vision at all, everything was ok for 5 days

On the 6th day, i woke up with this feeling and has been with me, the only thing happen on previous night was that i was awaken by a falling nighmare

Doctors done basic check on eyes, walking with left leg follow by right leg and nothing wrong with brain

I been to GP who gave me antibodies, inflammation to try for 2 weeks, thinking might be nose inflammation, but never work

ENT done scope of nose, nothing in nose, test nothing wrong with inner ear balance, Chiropractor no use, done MRI waiting for result now, neuro gave some nerve medicine to try

Anyone from Singapore having this problem, need to talk

Thank you

Alan

Have you tried Epley maneuver therapy. It helped me 2 years ago, it should be done by an experienced physiotherapist or by a doctor.

    Good luck!

The ENT already told me not BPPV or inner ear problem, done gaze and hearing test already, so Epley maneuver therapy is not for me

Have to traveled by boat or airplane prior to this feeling?

No boat or airplane prior to this

My neurologist told me not mal debarquement, need to be on boat for quite some time first

I have the same exact symptoms, following a trip to Disney World (a few boat rides, ride rides, plane trip, etc). At the same time I got a viral infection (103 fever) on our last days there. Ever since I’ve been rocking like I’m on a boat, except when I’m in a car.  It’s been almost 6 months.

My vestibular physical therapist says is mal debarquement syndrome. My neurologist and the ENT said it’s labyrinthitis. Either way, no medication has helped.  I started taking Bit B and magnesium but I don’t think it’s helped. Physical therapy is starting to help a bit, I think. I’m doing my best to keep up with it and I’ve YouTubed additional exercises that I can do too. Nothing else I’ve seen or googled brings me any more insight to what this is or what else can be done.

      Hi Ruffian829,

If is mal debarquement syndrom, you will actually feel better in moving car

Since your problem started after the viral infection, then you should work your way from there or could it be viral infection and it lead to or combine with PPPD after

      Where you from ?

Hi love.. I would definitely look PPPD and MdDS.. and to be honest most doctors don't know much about this...I have also been told that you can feel better in motion with both these syndrome... PPPD usually starts after a vestibular event and MdDS usually starts after a motion event( cruise or plane) ... I have been diagnosed with vestibular migraines, PPPD and MdDS.... VRT seems to be working for PPPD, but it seems to take a few month.. while no real studies have found VRT to work on MdDS patients...Ive been dealing with this for 7 years and I've never had any medication for this... the anxiety is huge for both syndrome, so finding ways to deal with the anxiety is my best tip.. you may need  ssri's..

      Hi Kelly

My neurologist told me not mal debarquement, need to be on boat for quite some time first, he knows about it

But he not sure of what is PPPD and he referred me to another senior consultant Neurologist for a second opinion

By the way what is  VRT and where are you from

VRT is vestibular  rehabilitation therapy... retraining your brain to work with your eye's and ears.... you can find exercises on YouTube.. I'm from Australia..

You were saying you can feel better in motion with both these syndrome, what do you mean, feel better when VRT or feeling better when in motion like in a moving car

I will tell the senior Neuro the next visit about maybe is PPPD and what he opinion

You were saying for 7 years without medication, how you get about with it

Do you mind if i contact you over phone, say Whatsapp, Telegram or Wechat cheap and easy, it would really help to talk to someone that understands, i only managed to find 2 guys in Singapore with the same problem, but it was years ago they posted in the forum and i cannot reach them anymore

      I PM you

      Thank

      Alan

I think you should broaden your horizons, someone in Singapore will have to same symptoms and issues as someone in Germany. If you do this you will find the answer much quicker and more helpful. Its good to get different opinions.
