Sweatless Hot Flashes

Would like to know anyone else’s experiences with hot flashes/flushes withOUT sweating.

Can you describe what they feel like to you?

What areas of your body are effected? Face, arms, head, etc. and what they feel like when it’s happening.

I’m pretty sure I had one a few weeks ago, and ladies on this forum were the angels that explained to me what happened.

About 15 min ago (I should be about a week and 3 days from starting my period by the way) I suddenly felt almost like tingles around my face. The best way to describe it. Then just “woozy” not quite dizzy. Heavy head, and a “bit” of a headache trying to push through.

Then felt like I had to go to the bathroom, did, and THOUGHT I’d feel better immediately because my digestive issues sometimes make me feel terrible until I go to the bathroom.

Then felt very “clogged” around my nose and forehead, UGH it’s all so freaking WEIRD y’all!

Just wanna know what other women feel when they get hot flashes w/o sweating or maybe this is just a major hormone crash/surge since I’m a week or so away from starting?

Thanks for replying Betty! The starting around the mouth thing makes sense, mine kind of felt that way too! Almost like a muscle spasm that never actually “spasms” lol

Do you ever get them without sweating?

For me I *think* this is what a hot flash feels like: tingly sensation under my eyes and cheeks.  I always get this reaction when I eat foods with MSG in it and that is how it feels like.  It's like I'm blushing.  Oh, I also get this when I drink alcohol.  I also feel a little "tipsy".

So now I get to experience this without the MSG or the alcohol!

Mine have been just getting really hot. I do get night sweats, but those seem to be separate.  I will open all the windows in the house, and my kids and husband are freezing, and I'm like, really, Its really hot!  It feels like I should be warm to the touch, but I'm not.  It also comes with my skin/nerve endings feeling like they are throbbing, or surging.  Its strange because I'm usually cold and bring a sweater with me everywhere.

Hi hun, I 've never sweated with my hot flashes. They begin at my feet and creep right up my body. I'm boiling for a while then I suddenly cool down again. As for the headaches I am sure that they are blood pressure related. I dont think its anything to worry about though hun just part of this lovely process! XXX

Tina do you think it sends up your BP are we safe with it

My bp is controlled by meds but it is still all over the place with this wonderful process. Just make sure you have regular check ups and if necessary your dr will sort you out. The worst thing you can do is worry about it as that will send your bp soaring anyway. Keep calm and you will be ok I'm sure of it. XXX

Hi Str8tfans - OMGosh you describe what I experience regularly.  I am post menopausal (5 years) but for the last five years I have experienced tingling in my face, hands, arms, front of my calves & tops of my feet.  I had more “hot flash with the sweats” when I was in peri, but this very vascular/tingling thing has been since I stopped menstrating.  I kind of feel like I am in a constant state of “woozy” & I feel sometimes like my brain has been sucked out.  Also, sometimes I can visibly see my face get red.  I can also experience some blurry vision when this happens. I thought perhaps I had Rosacea & was diagnosed with it, (many menopausal woman get Rosacea) but now I think it’s just hormone related.   I also thought it was food or wine triggering it, but it can happen whenever. Last month, my nose area actually hurt.  Right now, I am experiencing what feels like inflamed veins in the front of my calves & tops of my feet, other times it can be in my hands. Yes, the flushing is really crazy because a lot of woman don’t get it & you feel like something is really wrong &  it feels so strange.  I just want it to stop!!! Also, I do have strange digestion things happening, that I never ever had before - UGH! You are not alone Sista! Hang tough!
