Swelling

I'm 3 weeks post TRH replacement. I'm doing My well with mobility and keeping up my exercises. My right foot gets so swollen though. Is this normal? Nobody is able to put on my compression stockings so I have never worn them since coming home. Also I see the terms anterior, posterior. Which one is mine, my incision is on the side of my thigh? What is meant by revision? How do you know if you have a dislocation? I worry when I see some of the posts. It seems that my surgeon has explained very little to me.

My surgeon said that after leaving hospital if I was reasonably active I didn't need to wear the stockings which is good as I find it very difficult to get them on or off.

3 weeks post surgery my leg is still swollen. It is worse if I don't spend some of the day with my leg up. I stayed with a friend on Thursday so was sitting or standing all the time and by Friday night it was quite swollen but it will come down in time.

Side of the thigh is almost certainly posterior.

Revision is when they have to re-do the hip op. My hip became infected (very rare so do not worry) they took the old hip out. Put me on antibiotics to get rid of the infection and then put a new hip in. But you may need revision after 20 years when the hip starts to wear out.

By all accounts dislocating your hip is very painful. If you dislocate it and it stays out you are unlikely to be able to put any weight on it at all. But dislocation is fairy uncommon and the risk reduces with time as your muscles and tendons regain their previous strength.

And remember that people who have problems are more likely to post on this forum that those who sail through. So it is unrepresentative of the hippie universe.

So don't worry, in time you have a really good chance of getting back to full pain free mobility.
