Swelling after total knee replacement.

Hi, in a couple of days it will be 13 weeks since my tkr surgery. So far I haven't had a single day when my knee hasn't been swollen despite my elevating, icing, resting continually. The swelling has contributed to my low ROM which is around 95 degrees. Is anyone else continually swollen after 12-13 weeks?

How swollen is it? Just a bit, or sausage leg type of swelling?

i have three categories, what I call normal swelling, bad swelling and very bad swelling. Today is bad swelling.

Yes.  It took me quite a lot longer than that.  When the swelling started to disappear (can't really quite remember when but it was AGES) I suddenly managed an extra five degrees. . . I didn't take anti inflammatories . . my PT advised against it, which was probably not good advice really!  You really could do with pushing that ROM though . . 95 is not quite enough!

Saw my Dr today. He said things look good, he's not concerned about the swelling, of course it's not his knee either, and doesn't see the need for an MUA. I'm to continue home exercises, stretches but not to overdo it. The plan is for two "hard" days a week, 4 standard days with Sunday rest day. He said I should expect a marked improvement over the next 2-3 months but after that, increase in ROM should be minimal. I'm to go back in three months.
