Swelling and cold feet

OK I know we've been through this probably hundreds of times, but is it normal to have your foot swell and ankle swell and to have cold foot and leg after this surgery?does it go away? I've also noticed the foot being darker in color. I'm 6 weeks out this Thursday. Also as you all know I've been non weight bearing for 6 weeks. My first operation was anterior the revision he cut on the side of hip. I'm worried, scared. I know this is such a major operation.

    Dear Linda

It is so normal, here I am at 12 weeks postop, just been out for a lovely evening and my husband has just applied ice to my foot because it is swollen as usual. Nothing to worry about it is all part of the healing process the more you do the more it's Wells

Yes it is normal... I have pins and needles in toes also... mentioned to physio and swelling, coldness and stabbing pains are just nerves talking to each other.

Sorry Linda - for me shoes were hopeless after surgery, had an old pair of of crocs, heel strap tipped over so they are just like clogs.

I had never worn crocs previously as I thought they are just soooo ugly, but now they are my go to shoes for around the house, and even going to the supermarket, they are just soo comfortable.

I also took them to the hospital, nice new crocs for my second replacement, and nurses were saying they are just the trick for post surgery as they are soo loose but seeing you stand in a little dish they don;t slip out from under you.

I purchased the cheap and nasty version rather than the very expensive brand name crocs, but notice they have only lasted a fraction of the time of my husbands brand name crocs, he's been telling me for years these are great shoes.

Feet, ankles and knees like an elephants, ice packs and two cushions to raise dumbo's legs at the end of most days! Sound familiar?

Bless you, it's, (as I've said many times) the gift that keeps on giving 😏

Take heart in the knowledge that you are on great company!

    love and hugs xxx

Thank you Kate!! It's hard sometimes to deal with that on top of everything else!! I don't know what to do!! I sit. I stand, I hop on my good leg, still non weight bearing. And the wheelchair is so uncomfortable but I don't want to sit anywhere else till dr clears me if restrictions! 😩 LD 🤗🤓

Got a pair of slip on Sketchers, soft and low backed, apart from those - I don't! Wobble around the house bare foot! Xx
