My son has an odd looking swelling on the inside of his ear. Does anyone know what it is and what might have caused it?

This appears to be a sebaceous cyst. How long has your child had this swelling for? Is the lump painful sometimes? Has it ever become infected, red and sore? How old is your child?

In my Opinion, Before doing anything else. You should consult a physician or a good ear expert. They will better understand and prescribe you with better Treatment.

Definitely a sebaceous cyst. The black spot is the exit point for the sebum which has built up inside the cyst....a blackhead. They are quite common in the ear, especially during the teens
