Swelling in neck??

Posted , 3 users are following.

I had my wisdom tooth out on wednesday and have had some pretty bad swelling in my cheek and jaw. Today ive noticed this lump which is swelling that has moved between my collarbones!

I went to the dentist tosay for some antibiotics. What if this is an infection that is moving to my chest? Or a clot that will move to my heart??? This just isnt normal!

A clot is in the arteries and veins and don't get that big and if you have antibiotics you'll be fine. I think what you're referring to is a swollen lymph node which swells up when you're stressed or sick of or have allergies and ya an infection too but the antibiotics should treat that if that's the case. Is it just above the collarbone? Because I get those all the time from stress and allergies. Did you talk to the dentist about it when you went to get antibiotics?

Its in the middle of both collarbones. All of my neck is so sore and feels bruised. I didnt tell my dentist aa it has only just come up. My cheek swelling is kind of going down though

Call your doctor or dentist for peace of mind. I know for me when I'm freaking out over something, even if I know it's nothing bad, having a doctor tell me im fine puts me at ease. I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 4 weeks ago so I know what you're going through being paranoid after surgery. Try to stay busy and let your mind focus on other things, focusing on a feeling makes it stronger.

The infectiin, or swelling is in your lyomhatic system. Thats normal its cleaning you. The antibiotics should take care if it all. Drink lots of water.your body can take it fom here it doesnt  need you to be involved. It tales about ten days till you feel way better so be patient.  At least it is done now. There is no clot. A clot and an infection have nothing to do with each other. Theres nothing to internally clot here dont even go that route, the lump is not a clot its swelling not a clot. Youre body was trying to self heal by limiting the infection thats how the human body works., no clots. There are no clots Emily

You are on antibiotics so you dont need to worry. You can call and let your dentist know about the swollen lymph nodes if you want too.you can even call your own Dr. if needed.

Thankyou all for your replies. The swelling in my neck has gone down a little and so has the swelling on my face. Just left with a huge hard lump which hurts. I think my tonsils are swollen too. However im on amoxicillin so im hoping it will get rid of any infection.
