Swelling to jaw 3 weeks after tooth extraction?

I had my lower back tooth extracted 3 weeks ago, I had awful problems after and wish I had just dealt with the toothache I was experiencing before as I’ve had worst pain and problems since having it out. My face was terribly swollen and painful for a week and I had a dry socket and infection, I had that treated with anti biotics & had the socket packed, and I felt better within a couple of days and have been okay since, no pain just a bit irritating, then all of a sudden today my jaw has swelled up again & is sore, but the area looks fine and looks like it is healing well, the actual area is not hurting, but my jaw is so sore again. Does anyone know what this could be? I really want to avoid going to the dentist again I have really had just about enough of going there now :-( has anyone else experienced this? Does it go away on its own??? Thanks
