Swimming with sphenoiditis?

Hello. I have had sinus headaches for over a month. It turned out to be sphenoiditis but the sphenoid sinuses are not 100% filled with mucus. They are about 90%. I have been told that i am able to swim in the Pool. However whenever i swim i feel severe pressure for the rest of the Day. Moreover, my headache is persistent, worse when lying down or after sleeping. Is it abnormal that i get worse headache when water gets up my sinuses? Or does my doctor not have the knowledge and he Just thinks that i should be OK? Anyways i Will probably go under surgery in 1 week or so because i have taken A TON of antibiotics and it is not cured. I am just confused that my doctor says that i should be OK in water and i suffer from the pain. Thanks

If you get pain after swimming why don't you decide for yourself that it's not a good idea? Perhaps your doctor doesn't have the experience or knowledge but so what? You have the experience of pain after swimming and feel worse for the rest of the day so why ask the doctor?
I'm sorry that you have this problem and especially sorry that you have had to take a ton of antibiotics. Sometimes doctors don't have all of the answers and you have to find out for yourself what is going on. Many times an infection isn't causing the problem and antibiotics are not the cure - this seems to be the case with you. It might be diet, allergies or something else. It has only been a month - why are you thinking surgery is the only answer? Maybe just giving up one type of food will do it so perhaps do some research and see what your alternatives are. The Internet is a useful place!

Hey stelios87... sorry you have to go through this....well, if you feel swimming makes it worse then you should avoid it....There are many things which we have to find out by ourselves....I also feel worse after exposure to swimming pool water probably due to its chlorine content....
I also have chronic sinusitis and tried many antibiotics but it didn't help me...well your secretion color may tell many things....mainly white color suggest allergy or fungal origin....did you try steroid nasal spray and anti allergic medications like antihistamine and montelukast....? what help in subsiding my symptoms was medicated nasal wash with antibiotics, antifungal, mucolytics and steroids.....
About sleeping, sleep on two pillows to allow your sinuses to properly drain, Sinus binaural music before sleeping and also start humidifier especially if you use heater in the winter....as dry air is one of the causes of sinusitis....and add some eucalyptus essential oil in humidifier will also help.....All these I have tried and helped me.
