Switching from citalopram to escitalopram

i have been taking 20mg of citalopram for almost 3 weeks. Had terrible side effects for the first 10 days. Now I still wake up so anxious every morning. It just won't go away. I talked to my Dr. And she wants me to try escitalopram ( lexpro) has anye had this experienc? Will I be starting those side effects all over again? I am scared to change. If I wait longer will the nervousness in the mornings stop? At this point I have had some improvement but not much. Citalopram also seems to make my reflux worse.

Hi you may get no side effects at all on the other meds just see how it goes your doctor will do what's right by you have you had any meds for your acid reflux might help to keep it at bay you can get it from your local pharmacy

It also takes at least 6 weeks for you to get the fu'll effect so maybe waiting for a bit longer for the citalopram to work 3 weeks still early

Kathy I would give the cit longer. My GP wanted to swap me after 8 weeks because of insomnia and Im so glad I held out because it went away. I was having the same trouble, the morning anxiety was the last to go but it did.
