Switching from citalopram to venlafaxine

Hello, been on citalopram for 13 weeks, got up to 40mg, but had to reduce to 30mg due to 5 weeks intense anxiety, then had a meltdown, given diazepam, and started staged switch 20mg cit, 37 mg ven. Staged switch suggested by pysc 4 weeks ago, if reduced cit dose didn't work. Eventually started switch 5 days ago, as mood was falling rapidly on just 20mg cit. Been on combined dose for 5 days now, thought mood dropping had stopped for a few days, but it's dropping again. I'm supposed to do 20mg cit, 37mg ven for 2 weeks, then drop cit to 10mg and keep ven at 37 mg for a further 2 weeks. Only just managing, let alone a further dose reduction in a weeks time for 2 weeks. Pysc made switch recommendation 4 weeks ago, seeing him for a follow up in a weeks time

Given my melt down a week ago, and my falling mood, do you think he might revise switching schedule.? Has anyone done this switch more quickly, or without dropping dose so low. Any experiences of doing this switch would be appreciated. Thanks

I have. I came off the cit then started the ven the next day. I dropped from 40 to none over 10 weeks then switched to ven. Cit made memuch worse.

That sounds even longer. Was it worth it for you? Cit seemed to make me too anxious.
