Switching Medicines???

Hi

So I've been on Zoloft for 8 weeks on 50mg (10 weeks total- I was on 25 for 2 weeks before upping to 50) & honestly, I'm not feeling much better. I've seen small improvements, but nowhere near where I want to be- I still don't feel like my old self. I've been on this med for both anxiety and depression. It's been weird what Zoloft is doing to me. I'm better in some aspects, but worse in others! I'm still depressed, I still get anxiety, I'm tired and irritable all the time, and I've been getting really weird, vivid dreams. It's less intense, but still there. I'm just so frustrated with not feeling much better after all this time especially having to deal with college, work, and my social life. Every day is still such a struggle I feel like I've given Zoloft a fair chance to adjust (as I was told it can take up to 8 weeks to adjust), and I'm getting nowhere. I already had such a bad semester grade-wise last semester, I can't afford to have another one. I've been striving to make significant changes in my diet and exercise, but the Zoloft is keeping me stuck. I saw my family doctor a few weeks ago & she said if the Zoloft isn't working, that I could switch to Prozac at similar sized dose to Zoloft. I haven't done it yet because I don't want to send myself back through the terrible adjustment period when I have to worry about class, but now I'm seriously considering it. I just want to know anyone's experience switching from one SSRI to another SSRI. How did you do it? Was it difficult? How long until you felt better? Any advice would be great! I'm about to see my dr. here @ school, but I don't have a psychiatrist app. until march, so I'm just looking for general advice rn. Thanks for reading!!! plz help

    Hello

I am so at 8 weeks on 50 mg and in your shoes as well. I’ve seen some improvement but I am still not where I want to be. I also still get anxiety and my days seem to be worse than my evenings. It’s really frustrating because I’ve been on Zoloft in the past on the same dose and it worked wonders for me. I am going to see my doc this week and I may go up to 75 mg and see how I do on that dose. Have you considered going up? Perhaps try that before switching meds as 50 mg is still a low dose. We will get there! Hugs ❤️

I would ask to go up to 75 before you decide to change meds. You may just need to up your dose to get to where you need to be. I know it’s soooo hard because we want to feel better and wonder why it’s been so long and still hardly any improvement. Let me know how your doc appt goes!
