Switching to Zoloft

So, this is a first for me. I've been on zoloft in the past and it has been very successful, but have quit taking them years ago and when this bought of anxiety, depression, ocd hit the new doctor wanted me to take celexa and I did, I tried, I have been on it for a total of 9 months without success so he decided to put me back on zoloft. I now have to switch over and I'm not sure how to do it. Of course he gave me his textbook way of doing it but I would like to hear how others did it successfully without much complication.
Oh and by the way, as of now I am only on 15mg of celexa, nothing else.
Thanks!

hi grounded sorry to hear the meds did not work but sometimes, for whatever reason we could drive ourselves mad trying to figure out, it happens. The way I swapped over was 20 to 15 for a week, 15 to 10 for a week, 10 of citalopram and 25 of sertraline for a week then just 25 of sertraline for 2 weeks with the plan of going up to 50, I found the increase from 25 to 50 too much all at once so I went back down to 37.5 and stayed there for 2 weeks, back up to 50 after that, which I have been on for 7 months now and am doing ok. Had a few issues with the swap, like mood dipped, intrusive thoughts and no motivation and usual things like headache, dizzy spells but nothing too horrendous and they did not hang around for long, glad I swapped though

Oh thank you Sue! That is exactly what I was looking for. A lot of posts that I found online really didnt give a detail of how they did the swap and me being the nervous person that I am worried so much about it. I will try this method, it is similar to what the doctor said only a little slower which is okay with me! So glad that it went by quickly for and you are doing better.
I appreciate the reply, thank you! 😃

It did help with the anxiety but at the same time made me numb, along with dp dr, those just never went away. I feel that those are more of a bother then what the celexa did to relieve my anxiety because I seem to focus on that every day. I thought that may go away after time but its been 9 months now and they go from not so bad to bad up and down.
