Swollen and dry. Help?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am 25 and have always had issues with dryness, I have been with my boyfriend for a few months and he is well endowed lets say. So we ALWAYS use a lot of lubricant, however in the last 3 weeks I have been having worsening problems with internal and external swelling, pain and itchiness. No abnormal discharge at all. I visited the doctor twice, swabs were negative for bacteria, and any STI's or STD's. I thought it was thrush so I tried yogurt vaginally, orally and probiotic orally. Also apple cider vinegar orally. Now its been bad for a few days and I have only been keeping up with the above mentioned methods for about 5 days, however I sit all day at work and am wondering if that is why the irritation just won't subside much.Cocunut oil is the only thing that soothes it. Does anyone recognize something I am missing?

    Hi Memacdou,

I would go to see a gynaecologist, as if infections have been ruled out there may be something else . It's always good to get checked out properly.

Also be careful posting photos...as i'm sure that there are people who are

not on these forums for health reasons.

Maybe you have an allergy to soap or shower gels or bath oils?

Hope you feel better soon and find the help you need.

It looks like you are well shaved or waxed so the skin is irritated from that if i am not mistaken. Perhaps this has also irritated the whole of the vagina and vulva as some of the product could have gone internal. Not sure what the treatment would be. You could be allergic to the lubricant even.If it is thrush you are better off using Canesten there is a variey on the market, if you do not want to go back to the docs you can buy it over the counter at Boots

I also wondered if it might be an allergy, Im just not sure what to! I will try to eliminate a few obvious things and see. As for shaving, it doesnt heal any better when I dont shave but I am holding off on that for a few weeks just to see.

If you haven't already I would cease having sex for a while to eliminate further irritation and see if your body is abe to heal & return to normal. I imagine your doctor would have recommended that. When I had problems sitting was extremely uncomfortable and wearing any sort of jeans or fitted pants was impossible.

Could you possibly have an allergy to the lubricant?

So this issue got MUCH worse by saturday, and discharge became more evident, I don't know if it was a yeast infection or BV, however I used Provacare probiotic suppositries and BINGO within 24 hours I had relief and today everything looks normal again. I can't believe the difference in just a few days. I swear by this product now and will use it as a preventative as they reccomend for those of us who are prone to the yeast/bv cycle....

That's terrific! Never heard of that product, but many of the products & remedies mentioned on this site I don't recognize. Maybe we have similar in the US under different names. Apparently it is also sold in Canada.

Someone recommended Premeno as an alternative to hormone cream, but my druggist said they had no info on it. England may be more advanced than the US in this area. I wouldn't be surprised despite Americans always claiming to offer superior healthcare.
