Swollen and painful calf for 1 week after no activity

Hello guys it's the first time I am writing to the forum.I am 21 years old and generally in good health...But last Sunday my calf started to be in pain..A pretty strong pain..Monday morning it had swollen up it was 2 inches bigger than my other calf..I got scared suspected that it was a blood clot and went straight to the clinic..The surgeon that saw my calf said that it was probably nothing serious but he made do an ultrasound to see the veins and the arteries. The results said that I had no blood clot,so the surgeon sent me to an orthopedic to the same clinic who took one look at the calf he touched where I was in pain and he said that it might be a superficial clot so he prescribed me Salospire 100 mg and Voltaren 100 mg and said if I had no improvement for the next 3 days that I should go back in the hospital...Although I told him that the ultrasound was negative for a blood clot and that the surgeon said that there is no blood clot he insisted that the ultrasound can be wrong..So I left the clinic wondering what was going on.Tuesday morning still in pain I made an appointment with another surgeon who did another ultrasound on me and said that everything was normal no blood clot and that the prescription of the orthopedic was completely wrong..He told to get some painkillers and that it was a strain probably even though I told him that I hadn't exercise in like a month...Friday morning still swollen and in pain I walk to another doctor that did another ultrasound on me and said everything looked pretty normal..He said there is no blood clot and that I should visit another orthopedic to do a leg MRI..Today the pain is getting worse and the appointment with the orthopedic is in Monday I don't know what to do seriously..Do you have any ideas what could this be?I am in a lot of pain and very stressed...Do you think that there is a clot and the ultrasound missed it?please help me. ......

The symptoms your describing sound like a dvt but I can't see why three ultrasounds would be wrong. Have you tried ice for about 15 minutes and the heat for a little.bit?

I have tried it but it didn't make it any better...I am really scared that it might be a clot and it will break off and travel to my lungs...The last surgeon said that the ultrasound is 98 percent accurate and that it's impossible to be a clot because it's not red or hot to the touch..I don't know what to do to be honest..Can this be a strain or some muscle issue?I hope that 3 ultrasounds and 3 surgeons could have found a possible dvt...

It could be a strain muscle. I've never had a dvt only a pe and even when I had that I did not have classics symptoms. Just a needle prick poke in my chest. But my mom and sister had dvt. The classic symptoms would be tender to the touch red hot and feel like a cramp. When you stretch your leg out and bend your foot heel to toe to stretch the calf muscles, does it feel like a muscle stretch or a cramp? There are two guys on You Tube who tell you excerzies that might say if you have a dvt. Just type in something like how to tell if I have dvt or something.

Have had clot in leg, about 3 years ago, very hot and swollen, and ultrasound picked it up straight away, so no not likely they have missed a clot.
Movement is needed, very gently, otherwise you will get a clot, even if its only a walk around the house, once today, twice tomorrow, or if toooo sore, once again tomorrow, and change the distance every 3- 4days, that's how I got rid of mine with tablets to smash up clot, cleared up within about 10 days.
Then went on to have a hip replacement 5weeks later, delayed because of clot, did the same, walked around the house inside, until confident enough to go outside, then extended distance every few days, without hurting myself tooo much.

Update my left calf is now 4 inches bigger than the other one..It's so swollen and painful..The painkillers don't do anything...I just went to another near by hospital they did blood work to check the d dimer and even though I begged them to do another ultrasound they refused..The d dimer results were normal so they sent me home and said I have nothing to worry about but my pain is getting so much worse I can barely walk...I have no idea what to do..Why is my calf getting more swollen and more painful?

So at this point I'm not sure what country your in but in the US when you walk into a hospital and say you have chest pain especially when you breath they do a ct scan with contrast to check for any clots in the lungs pulmonary embolism. So I would go to another hospital tell them your chest hurts when especially when you breath and hopefully they will do the ct with contrast. Could it be anxiety and you being paranoid yes it could but better safe then sorry.

I am from Greece and I live there...The hospitals are in a tragic state you have to wait around 4-5 in the er to be examined by the doctor...I went to the hospital again they did an ultrasound on my calf and an x ray and they said there is no strain or any orthopedic issue so it is a clot. They did a a doppler ultrasound in my calf forum a clot but they found nothing...So they told me that it's probably a clot in a very small vein that the ultrasound can't see..They scheduled an appointment for an MRI on Wednesday...I told them I feel a pain in the chest they did an x ray which was clear..So I have to wait 3 days to get treatment that's bulls**t....

They should have done a ct scan with contrast on your chest. Any good doctor knows to do that when someone complains of chest pains. I'm so sorry your going through this.
