swollen from under boobs look look pregnant 5 weeks post op vaginal hysterectomy and repairs x2

has anyone else got these problems .I aslo have pain in right lower abdomen I think I have strained something doing pelvic flooe exercises

    I also had a vaginal hysterectomy, I looked pregnant for about a year afterwards 😨 and at 62 it caused a lot of funny looks I can tell you, the infamous swelly belly can last for months I'm afraid.

      thankyou for your reply I am the same age and take some reassurance from this. Did it go in the end and were you told what caused it

      Hi Louise,

      Yes it did go eventually, it's similar to when you sprain your ankle and it swells, the swelling protects the ankle, you have had major surgery so your tummy swells up to protect it.

    Hi Louise.

    I was the same from 5 weeks. The doc couldn't believe it when she seen how big I was. I'm almost 2 years post surg and it lasted about 12-16 months. But then I have excess weight from not exercising.

      many thanks for your reply Im reassured that its not just me!

      I find it strange that noone could seem to tell me what causes it and when I mentioned it to a medical person they didnt seem to have an answer.

      I thought that it must be uncommon!

      Did your surgeon explain what causes it?

      No and she done x-rays bloods and scan. Mine did go down some but I'm still about 1.5 stone heavier than I was before op. Now I have went into menopause over 5 month period. 😭😭
