Swollen Glands

Hi....I was diagnosed with genital HSV 1 in November. I've come to terms with it l, but I'm still learning amount it.

A few days ago, I had a sore throat and 1 swollen gland. The next day, I noticed a couple of white spots on the back of my throat. There has been no fever. I have not had any type of sex since early January.

Called my pcp and he called in regular antibiotic until I can get in to see him next week.

Could this be related to my HSV 1 condition or strep throat.

Thanks.

OK so I just replied and it didn't show up. I'll try again...

So I was diagnosed in October and a couple of days after my first outbreak (which was horrific I was in so much pain and was so ill) I got a really sore throat.

My mum had a look at my throat and there were white spots and said it looked like tonsillitis (think it's called strep throat in US). Well I laughed and said that was impossible because I'd had my tonsils removed when I was 4!

Long story short I went to the docs because I was worried I had herpes in my throat as well as down there but they confirmed tonsillitis.

It was the first time I'd had it in 21 years! I don't think it was caused by the herpes but I think it definitely contributed to it since my immune system was so low at the time.

Sounds like you have the same issue. Hope you get better soon.

Just make sure you do the whole script or the tonsillitis will come back. It did with me a month later cos I gave up a week into my script cos I felt fine so gave up.

Another tip... look into suppression therapy I'm going to give it a go on Wednesday when I get paid!

      Good luck with everything x
