swollen knee after full hip replacement

Has anyone suffered swelling of their knee and ankle I am 3 weeks post op and the swelling is still swollen

    Yes mine was massive. I have been wearing full length TED stockings at night and they have helped a lot.

    put you legs up in the afternoons if you can, and ankle pumps too.

    Most ops involve dislocation of the hip prior to surgery, so as you can imagine, the knee takes a lot of manhandling - no wonder it swells up.

    I had Superpath op where there is no hip dislocation and funnily enough, I have no knee swelling or pain, so it must be the dislocation that has a lot to do with it.

    Try and raise it on pillows when you are lying flat in bed, so that it is higher than your heart - that should help. It helped with the ankle swelling I had which went down in a few days.
