Swollen Legs and feet

I have been taking Amlopidine 5mg for 6 months now and I have been feeling quite ill since taking it.

I do take Lisinopril 20 mg as well but have been taking these for a long time so do not think they are the problem.

Since taking Amlodipine my feet and legs had become very swollen and hot, also back pain and always tired plus a dry cough.

I stopped taking this tablet about 4 days ago and I feel so much better in myself and the swelling in my legs and feet are now going down.

I feel more alert now, more like my old self.

I have made appointment with doctor about this, they just ignored me before when I mentioned this tablet !

I will not be taking any more of them now !

Hi ya !! i have been very unlucky with bp tablets. Amlodipine Had effects on me. much like you have mentioned. My left calf swelled up so much i couldnt get my jeans off. My gp said it would go away after a week or two. but we know our bodies better than the gp's. I stuck on these tablets for 2 weeks and i regret not listening to my own mind... Since then ( almost 5 months ago) i still get a numbness in my left calf. everyone is different so please dont take this as trying to scare you. just please listen to your own body. i wish i did. try and change your life style i know mine is stress related and i am trying. good luck and remember stand up for yourself with the gp's

Hi, just thot id look up the med i have been prescribed for high bp when i came across this site and your experience. I started on Lisinopril around 2-3 mths ago just the 2.5mg then went up to 5mg, didnt seem to have any probs apart from awful nausea for the first week which the doc said would go away & thankfully did, when my bp wasnt coming down i was then prescribed Amlodipine 10mg, i have constant heartburn and noticed the other day that my ankles are swollen, my whole body has a constant what i describe as a \"dead ache\" or \"gnawing pain\" & i am feeling so p'd off with it all. I have an appt with the doc in a cpl of wks & if i can last till then will sure as hell be asking for a different tab. I am now takin 5mg of Lisinopril & 10mg of Amlodipine, but hopefully not for much longer!!!

I have been taking this medication for about 1.5 months and have never felt so awful in my life! My mood dropped to an all time low and whilst usually an optimistic person I was finding it difficult to see the upside of anything..... I also felt exhausted and was struggling to keep my eyes open during an average working day. Not good. stopped taking it and within a day I feel better and have changed my BP meds so hoping not to experience similar side effects. What I do know is that I will never take this drug again! Not surprised it is banned in some countries. did not know that until I read it on this site.... explains alot.
