Swollen lymph node

Hi guys

I found a swollen node just about my Adam's apple very slightly to the left when I was shaving it was sore, I went to the docs that day and he got me to a blood test and I'm booked in for a ultra sound next Wednesday. I don't have any other symptoms and feel fine, still been going to gym and no other medical problems to my knowledge.

My issue is I started googling everything looking for the answer( which is crazy within itself) and I kept poking and touching it which isn't good for it either. Constantly seeing is it hard or does it move driving myself crazy.

I suffer with health anxiety and the week is happen work was out of control and my anxiety was rampant. Some sites say there is a link however some say there isn't a link.

Anyone else had this issue?

Stay strong

I too suffer with health anxiety and literally have/had a lymph node in the same spot. I felt a lump feeling in my throat one day and started freaking out doctor couldn't feel a lymph node so he sent me to an ultra sound. The ultra sound confirmed that it indeed was swollen (make sure to ask if its abnormal they will tell you if you want to know.) They forwarded my results to my gp and multiple bi weekly blood tests later I still had no markers. So in this case the stress response was causing issues. Because I also have tense neck and upper back so it could be aggrivating the node. Also me pushing in it all day probably didn't help. From personal experience though just relax easier said than done BELIEVE ME. But you will make your symptoms worse mine got so bad I literally became so fatigued and sick that I couldn't move. So I have been able to kick some of my anxiety to the curb and I have been able to move around a lot better as of recently. So just relax know that (hopefully reassuring) even if it is something bad WHICH IT MOST LIKELY ISN'T worrying will only make.it worse. Eat plenty of fruits with potassium and other fruit.in general and it will help with uneasiness. Also even if you don't think you are deficient get some vitamin D pills and take 2 a day (2000 ius). Hope this helps even a little.

      Hi

Sorry to hear about your eye situation and I'm sure the results will come back okay.

The thought I had when reading your comment was how powerful anxiety can be. The week the node swelled I had a miny breakdown at work because of workload and projects, I asked the doc if it had anything to do with it but he said no stress can't effect nodes..... hmmmmm not sure if he is right. I also get tight muscles in neck which may effect it.

The node has gone down a little and seems a bit more moveable, I've had mouth ulcers so not sure if that's the stress or it made the nodes swell...... who knows.

The learning for me is what is causing the health anxiety, is it the fear of death, I'm not sure but I'm going to work on it

      Good luck with everything

I should add, it could be a pinched nerve and not even a lymph node at all. I know I have nerve issues due to anxiety but I have been doing my best to relax and both anxiety and nerve pain is getting better.

Just got my blood tests back and all good, going to speak with doctor about scan and see what he thinks.

I know blood test isn't 100% but he can help give any idea if anything is wrong

    Hi,

I absolutely feel your pain!  Been having weird flashing in the corner of my eye, opthomologist saw nothing, thought I was having some cluster opti migraines.  Went back to him 2 days later and he now says he thinks he sees a swollen blood vessel but it may be nothing and for my peace of mind he is sending me to a retinal specialist Tuesday.  I looked it all up and ready horrible things , I suffer from health anxiety and I am now out of my mind with fear of what kind of tests they will do to me and what they will find.  Always the worst.   I find that when I am in the pit of anxiety everything else in my life especially Work street, makes it worse, so I am not surprised you are feeling like you  are.  I wish I had some great words to make you feel better but all I can say is our fears are not going to change our outcome and we have to try our hardest to stay strong!!  Good luck!!
