swollen painful anus

Hi,

I have extreme pain and burning sensation in my anus, there is a swollen lump on the back edge on my anus, the pain is very severe and its hard to sit or sleep.

I have no medical insurance and cant afford to be hospitilized.

What could be the cause?

Is it cancer, fissure, hemorrhoids?

Please if anyone could help in identifying my problem and how should I treat it, I would really appreciate it.

Best Regards

Ken

I had something similar years ago. Saw a specialist, he said it can be removed but often comes back. Now I'm fine, high fiver diet and anusol. Don't use prep H, it has shark oil and I got hives. No problem with anusol. U still have to check it to be sure it's just an anal abscess, and never let yourself get constipated .

Let us know what doc says.

      Hi Nancy,

Thank you for your reply and advice, I went to a family doctor clinic where I was examined, the doctor said it was a hemorrhoid and that the skin tag was pink not white as in the pic (might be due to refection of the lights), she prescribed the following:

-Preparation H Medicated Wipes Refill Pack [50%] (do not exceed 6 a day)

-Proctocream-HC [2.5%] (Twice daily, only for 6 days)

-Docusate Sodium [100 mg] (Stool softener twice a day)

They charged me 25$ which was reasonable, but I was surprised to find out that the Proctocream costed $51 !, makes the total of $65 for the prescription package.

I've been using the medication for 2 days now and I can say there is an improvement, less burning and pain, but not happy with that proctocream, not only it cost so much, but it also does not nullify the pain (no local anesthesia).

I was also referred to a Proctocology specialist for the reason of persistent hemorrhoids and possible banding or hemorrhoidectomy.

I contacted the specialist office and asked them about the payment for seeing the specialist, $287 they replied, that’s allot! What about the operation fees, I could imagine 2000+, and the hemorrhoids may come back again.

I will keep on the medication as instructed, also high fiber (veggies & fruits), drink allot of water; and will see if the hemorrhoids goes away or at least the pain.

But I'm glad that it’s not cancer or infection.

      Best Regards

      Ken

could be a pilonidal cyst. your at risk if you're hairy, overweight, sit down job or sedentary.  a hair may get pluged in the sinus snd causes infection, resulting in s cyst or abcess.  check out utube videos . best to get checked out.  will only get worse as youve probably found out.  wish you the best!
