I switched from Celexa to fluoxetine/Prozac. I felt worse before I felt better. Took a few weeks/8 for me but think my brain was going through withdrawals from Celexa. I'm only taking 20mg. Prescribed 40mg. Definitely for me took me a while in my situation. I hope you get to a place of joy and peace.

I am feeling good compared to the first weeks which were very difficult. Terrible withdrawals I think from discontinuing the Celexa. I'm now 11 week's from being just on the 20mg fluoxetine. For me, never again taking an SSRI with what I know now. If I would have known what I do know and went through. Worth doing alot of research for each individual person. The side effects were a long list at first that when they finally eased up, I was so relieved, happy and had my Joy back. Working on keeping stress away and getting a good night sleep, gym daily and eating right. Life can consume you if you let it I've found. I would never take Celexa ever again.

So far the side effects are way less and not something I think about. I think the Celexa I was breaking through and had been on it for years and up to 60mg. It definitely changed my brain and just a numb feeling the reason I wanted to do something. I had no idea about the withdrawals and come to the conclusion that my psychiatrist, being so into giving a pill to fix something that for me was masking my issues such as stress and tough situations. It's a learn as you go but a huge help for me is finding and listening to other testimonies on SSRI's and meds in general. Knowledge has been power and a big relief to know what can happen with meds. Those feelings are temporary but seem like forever. I feel bad for anyone that is going through such times but with all of us sharing were not alone and the testimonies we share is good therapy.
