Symfony exchanged for an Acufocus IC-8 with good results

Well I have had a Symfony toric lens exchanged for an Acufocus IC-8 about 4 weeks ago in the UK and the result is much better.
I had severe glare, halo even in the day around a window looking out and tvs etc. and shocking halos and starbursts around car headlights not to mention the dreaded multiple rings.
I waited for 4 months with the Symfony but nothing improved.
The IC-8 has a bit of glare around night time light sources but nothing like as bad with the Symfony.
I can read from 12 inches and see well to distant hills.
There is a bit of contrast reduction i would say 20% due to the small aperture but in the day
this is not noticeable only in low light where better artificial lighting is required.
There are no starbusrts, concentric circles or halo !
The IC-8 is not made in a toric version as it does not need to be due to the characteristics of its small aperture design.
So far much happier with this IOL. 😃

Hi, glad your doing better. I have same problems. but most of all my eyes feel tired all the time. red every morning not wanting to go through it all again. seeing without glasses has not been worth it.

Glad Tom you are happy with the results. Decision to exchange not easy. It is a shame we can't see before implanting a lens what vision would be like. I am pleased this new lens is better than your experience with Symfony.

Glad you're happy with the new lens. I believe the IC-8 is currently only approved for use in one eye, to be paired with a monofocal in the other eye. I guess this is to help with the low light limitation. It's not available yet here in the U.S., although it's made by an American company.

Yes BobDob I am about to have an implantable contact lens in the second eye Visian ICL to partner the Acufocus IC-8,
The ICL is easily removed in the future if a cataract develops in that eye or new IOL technology arrives.
I believe the IC-8 is nearing approval in the US and recent investment will be pushing this forward

Good to know about the IC-8 nearing approval in the U.S. We need more choices. Too late for me though. I'm having my first eye done at the end of November. The cataract is pretty dense, so I've been advised not to wait any longer. The second eye will follow shortly thereafter.

Guest, could you update your review? The IC-8 has finally been approved in the US and marketing here is beginning, so it would be very timely.
