Symptoms but normal blood test

Hello Ive just found this site and would like advice please.

For some time Ive felt unwell, I went to see my GP and started to tell him about my symptoms, I only got to bad headaches and he arranged for an MRI scan. I told him but I have other symptoms he said " stop there, we will deal with one at a time" he arranged for blood test. Frustrated he wouldnt listen. I then get a letter to see my GP. Spoke to a nurse who said my livercount was up but in normal range its 30? There was also swelling. She said its nothing, so why get me to see a GP tomorrow. In 2011 it was 20 and signs of swelling, he dismissed it. What 30 is I dont know I will find out tomorrow.

I have headaches, stabbing pains between my shoulderblades, my tummy pushes out on my right side by my ribs and is very hard, then settles dow this can go on through out the day. I feel nausious loss of appetite, fluid arround my ankles, face feels on fire but body hot limbs cold. My fingers go stiff unable to bend ( I had a steroid injection in my thumb 2 weeks ago to realeas it ) I have 2 brown pigments 1 inch and 1/2 appear on my face. I have bright red like pin head spots appear on my arm back and tummy about 8 in all. My personallity has change annoyed, not me at all.very tired and low energy.

Ive searched on Google and all my symptoms match liver disease. How can I get my GP to refer me to a specialist?

Can you still have blood tests in the normal range but have abnormal liver?

I do not drink alcohol, I dont smoke. I am overwheight and can not lose it and have beenon slimming world.

Any advice will be appreciated. Im in the UK

Thanks

Have you told your symptoms that you have listed to your GP.

He should get your kidney function tests, and possibly autoimmune if not done yet ?

Thanks smile im seeing GP later he didnt want to know about my other symptoms, he wanted to rule out brain tumour rolleyes if he listened what i had to say, i dont think I would of had an MRI

Your symptoms do match liver disease, but that doesn't mean you have it.

Certain things stand out. Fluid around the ankles is called peripheral oedema. It is usually caused by, certain medications, liver or heart problems.

Very tired and low energy, coupled with loss of appetite. The liver provides the energy to the body, if it is not functioning properly, you will have fatigue and no get up an go. You will want to rest, most of the time.

I'd like to comment on some of the other things, but I need to check to remind me. I will come back tomorrow as it is late (I'm in UK as well). Please comment when you read this, it onlys needs to be one sentence, but I will get sent an email and it will remind to respond tomorrow.

Ive been ill since 2011. Ive kept going to the Doctors. Dismissed with tellig me..

      Depression

      Stress

      Irritable bowel

      Get my eyes tested

      Arthritis

4 weeks ago told you have a sore throat take these. Despite telling them all my symptoms. The last 3 months I felt like I had food pisening so ill, finally ive had blood tests and mri.

Ive read abnormal brain mri can be connected to the liver, but ive complained about feeling fluid trickling behind my throat and salty taste, they look at me as if im stupid. I thought it could be cereable leak.

Hi lilly as hard as it sounds try not to

Dr Google, he's crap at diagnosing illness from just putting what we believe are correct symptoms in, he will always tell you the worst, it could well be hep c or fatty liver which is quite common or just a viral infection.

Wait and see the specialist, he's the expert as I'm sure you realise.

      Take care

Thanks im not a worrier, I deal with things as they come along. Took me 5yrs to get a GP listen to symptoms in the past. I knew what was wrong from Dr Google but never told any GP. Finally a GP actually listened and checked my file with photograph evidence, sent me for tests and confirmed I had Lyme disrase, I was bit by a tic and had photos. I still wonder ifit was 5yrs lack of treatment I have now got these probs lol

Well, events seem to have overtaken things. I am glad you have been disagnosed or at least partially. I don't think you have a cerebral leak. I had a bleed on the brain (haemorrhage) three years ago. If that were the case, they would have you in hospital now.

Hi there, you do have my every sympathy, I too have had a number of sypmtoms over the last year, I do have a slight fatty liver which I was told after an ultra-sound and I do know how hard it is to get a GP to listen, they rarely want to refer anyone these days, this I know from myself, friends etc. One thing I do know is that I don't use dr Google, it really causes alot of added stress, also most people on here aren't dr's, I am certainly not, therefore follow your own heart, keep going to the dr but try to see difference GP's in the practice. I wish you all the very best.

For all the people saying don't read Dr.Google, the reason people do and the reason they come here, is that their doctor is not listening.

I have learnt more from my patient records from two months in hospital, Dr.Google and reading comments on here over the last two years, than anything any medical person or consultant has told me, in hospital or at my outpatient appointments and that includes nine months as an outpetient of a stroke rehab hospital.

And I am a regular to hospital, last year I saw, the hospital acute dietician - not weight, but eating correctly for a damaged liver, a dermatologist, to have a small op due to my blood condition, a cardiologist, a neuro consultant and several with my gastro consultant.

The only time I get good information, is when I directly question them and show that I have knowledge of the subject and can't be fobbed off. So good luck to anyone that wishes to research their condition, especially if their doctor does not seem interested or does not explain things. We may not be doctors on here, but many of us have been through the system and have a good idea of what is going on.

Agree with all you're saying about taking responsibility for our own health and not being fobbed off by doctors who are not listening and who sometimes think we are stupid. Have learnt quite a lot from other people's posts and experiences, also Google, although Google can be scary! Agree with Joanna that they're not very eager to refer anyone today, cutting down to save money, so you really have to push if want to be heard. Blood tests I know can be perfect with LFTs, have only recently asked for copies of mine, as I didn't know that you are entitled to a copy, it's good to know if the numbers are going the right way.

Good luck Lilly. Let us know how you get on

Thank you, I agree. As in one of my posts 5 long years of seeing 12 Drs and told im a im depressed. I googled and hey presto Lyme disease. I went to the GP and told him ' just listen and dont interupt" I told him all my symptoms and asked if I could be this ill from flea bites? He asked if I hadever been bitten before and did I have a photo, yes 5yrs ago. He told me to bring the photo. I saw himthe next day, he put his computer on and asked if my bite looked like the picture, I gave him my photo snap! Exactly the same. He gave me antibiotics imediately. He told me GP's dont want to spend money on treatment so they fob you off with depression. So a big thanks to Dr Google smile

Soa few years later I started to get all these symptoms, seen a few GP's over the years and fobbed off. So Dr Google I went and demanded im checked, I then find out my blood tests for liver have been climbing higher and blood for swelling, not one GP has ever told me, they always said in ormal range until I demanded im checked. Strange how then I was sent for an urgent mri scan of my brain though headaches which I believed to be the liver. Ive complained about salt and metalic taste and fluid trickling down my throat and clear out of my ear, im frowned upon. So when I see the neurologist for my brain im going to see what he thinks of that!

I dont get panicked or over react but I know when im more ill than a slight cold lol.

      UPDATE!

I dont know whats going on,my GP said hes not concerned about my liver results, that was a few days ago, yet this afternoon I have been sent an appointment for Tuesday to see an endocrinologist. I phoned the hospital to find out why I had an appointment, she said my GP was concerned with my blood test results and wanted an urgent appintment for me. GP said my bloods were fine?

At least I will get al my bloods checked out and hopefully get some answers in a few weeks.

Well, I had a scan of my liver and was told all is fine.

The Endoncologist only deals with the pituatary gland.

I was sent for a mamagrom and was told I have breast cancer, maybe thats why my bloods were high for my liver?

I wasnt expecting that, so I will deal with it each day that comes....

That's horrendous, not a great thing to have to deal with especially as you will also have to find out what is causing an abnormal brain scan as well, what made them send you for a mamagram, but I am sure you have to have a biopsy before they can be sure its a cancerous tumour, my sister has had a double mastectomy but they didn't tell her for sure until they had done further tests.

When will they take you in do you know yet.

      I hada mammagram 4 x

      Ultrasound x4

      Then a iopsy

Then titanium clams x 4 but in.

The consultant is under no doubt I have cancer. I am going to have my lymph nodes taken out. I go back on 31st May and then he will tell me if im having single or double mastectomy and if im having chimo first or after.

I see neurologist on 28th May for my brain.

I went to see my GP today as I have found a lump in my arm. She said its deeply routed. So shes sending me for an urgent ultrasound.
