My tried to do a recital examination and the opening was to small and it was too painful to do in office thus past Monday. On Friday I went back under anesthesia so he could dilated my rectum and remove some scar tissue that caused the stenosis.
I have only had a very small amount of stool that was liquid about midnight the night of surgery. I have taken morals. , milk of magnesia and now mag citrate to get things moving.
My doctor told me I may have to use my jelly with gloves to manually dilated myself until swelling is down and having bowel movements on my own.
He told me sometimes people with severe stenosis end up having to have a temporary colostomy. I am scared to death .
All I have happening is more swelling and passing no very small blood clots followed by bleeding.

It should have read taking Miralax, Milk of magnesia, and this morning started taking mag citrate to get things moving.
Should have also said my doctor attempted to do rectal exam in his office but opening was too small and it was too painful so I ended up having dilation of anus under anesthesia 2 days ago.
Only small amount of liquid stool the night of procedure since procedure done . I only have had tiny blood clots followed by light bleeding since liquid stools Friday night.
My doctor told me I may have To manually dilated my anus using KY jelly and gloves until swelling goes down and able to pass stool.
He told me there will be bleeding because I had tears on the walls of my anus from trying to pass stools with stenosis. He told me that is why it felt like razor blades when I went to bathroom.
I am so over this hemorrhoidectomy stuff- I had no idea this was the potential problems that would develop.
Going in to hemorrhoidectomy I was told could go back to work in about 2 weeks. It had been one problem after another.
On the humor side - I guess I could say it had literally been a pain in my ass.

Lol Kathy you certainly could say that. He told me he didn't remove all of my outside ones as it was so much worse than when he saw them originally in December in case it caused stenosis doing it all in one go and yet there's no external hem there. I'm having bms between 5-7 times a day and every one of them feels like I'm passing glass and are thin yet weetabix like ( if that makes any sense). Opening and closing my anus is horrendously sore particularly closing and closing can take anywhere from 10-20 secs after finishing my bm.

What you have described is my symptoms too. I have a wound that hasn’t healed so opens everyday during bm hence I do have bleeding 6months on
However at times I feel like I tear myself trying to have a bm against a tight pelvic floor muscle
I’m curious abt the self dilation thing. Even though the dr said I have no stenosis I feel like I do.
What do you do ?? And for how long?
Tia

He told me to expect some bleeding when I do this.
I had been tearing tissue in my rectum each time I had a bowel movement which began scarring when healing which contributed to the stenosis. I am still doing stool softeners per his request and eating a soft diet and fiber diet as well per my doctors advice.
Good luck to you and hope you feel better.
