Symptoms of fibromyalgia? Unsure of what I have?!

Posted , 8 users are following.

So I'm 20 and have had what I *think* would be fibro - but if you guys would mind helping me out and if these are syndromes of fibro.

I've got spontaneous sharp short pains all around my body, but mainly focused on my torso/rib cage. Sometimes so painful I have to stop doing whatever and hold pressure on the point for about 10seconds until the pain relieves. After about 10-20seconds the pain is 90% gone. This happens up to 20 times a day but averaging 10 times.

It's been going on for about 4 years now, no I haven't gone to see a doc yet - as I handle pain fine and im partially lazy. Although it is getting worse with time. When I have caffeine it seems to worsen. But I rarely have caffeine anyway.

I'm always tired

I eat really healthy and exercise frequently (equestrian)

I've got bad short term memory, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks in advance.

I also have had many injuries with horses and snowboarding but the "fibro" seemed to come at a random time.

Hi, Rozanne:  I also have Fibro, and I have the same pains...I hurt all over, however, some of my pain stems from a large hiatal hernia.  I get sharp pains right under my left rib cage.  If I push in long enough it stops hurting.  Please have that checked because you could be like me and have both problems.  Just tell your doctor to do an Xray to find out if you do have a hiatal hernia....Hope this helps...

    Hi Roxanne,

what your describing could relate to a number of things, so I'm afraid the only advice I can offer is to visit your GP. If it is fibro it's going to take long enough to diagnose without delaying the process further.

    Good luck, lisa

The best advice I can give you is that you go and visit your GP. He can do some blood tests for you and also refer you to a rheumatologist. With fibro you can have many different kinds of pain throughout the body.Take care sending you gentle hugs….wink x

I am.lucky enough to.live near Bath where they have a Mineral Hospital that specialises in Rheumatologist Diseases such as Fibro and I was recently put on a coping skills programme for a month. Not eating gluten seems to really help me.I am.not on any medication.I find Night Rescue Remedy helps to get me through the night.Without feeling too groggy in the morning. I have had to cope with Fibro for 8 years a s a single mother .It has certainly been a roller coaster ride.
