Symptoms of UC

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and Proctitis nearly 7 years ago so you may find this silly of me to ask about symptoms. I’ve experienced it all... Stabbing pain, bleeding, diarrhea, lack of appetite, etc Recently I’ve experienced sour stomach with nausea. On and off diarrhea. It’s been going on daily for weeks. Does anyone else experience nausea and sour stomach with UC?
I just don’t know what else it could be.

Oh yes definitely. In fact before being diagnosed with UC, I was investigated for over a year for persistent vomiting post meals...I was given many different anti sickness meds but it wasn't until I started the bleeding and mucus that they looked the other end. I still vomit often, usually after a large meal involving carbs, so t end to stick to a high protein low carb intake. I am however far better on mezalasine. Hope you get sorted soon. Are you still taking all your meds?

Hi Amber, I was also diagnosed with UC and proctitis 8 years ago. I have had lots of different symptoms and have been on various medications. I suffer a lot with constipation plus blood and mucus but need to run to the loo as still get urgency. About 6 months ago I woke at night feeling like I was going to vomit but didn't. This happened a few times and I also had a sour taste and lack of appetite. GP diagnosed gastric acid reflux which apparently is quite common (I'd also googled my symptoms!) I was started on Lansoprazole and told to sleep with an extra pillow to stop the acid flow. After about 2 months I had a blood test for which I had to stop the Lansoprazole (and was a bit worried!) but the gastric acid reflux had stopped and not returned. I'd go and see your GP about it unless you have an appointment with your Gastroenterologist soon?
Good luck hope you get it sorted.

Hi,
Hi,
I was diagnosed with UC on 20th May after having blood and mucus when going to the toilet. I didn't however suffer any other issues until I started taking masazaline. Then I had terrible stomach cramps, chest pains, fever and headaches. I was hospitalised for three days for the chest pains andI initially put this down to side effects of the tablets ( seemed too coincidental) however I wonder if this was simply the UC?

So it could be, but I’d be willing to guess it was side effects to the medication you were on. I do have friends that suffer from chest pains from acid reflux and have been told it’s because of their UC. So maybe. After all these years I wish I could be more helpful for others and myself. It’s just a tricky illness.
