Synacthen Test

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi Eileen, took your advice and asked GP to refer me for Synacthen test. She said she's never referred anyone before but she's very nice and always complies. Now have to see if hosp will do one on NHS and if not will have to fork out. Dizziness caused by having to stand too long in church. Sitting next time. Fine now.

I for one will wait to see how you do. I had one a short while ago and was found to be short of Cortisol, I was taken off Pred (5mgs.) and put on 20mgs. of Hydrocortisone. I was o.k. for a couple of weeks and then my B/P crept up, (I also take Leflunomide), my aches and pains started hip, back, etc. my sleep is also affected. I have an appt with the Rheum. next week and will see what she says. the trouble is, are the aches and pains due to a lack of Pred. or due to the Hydrocortisone which are listed in the side effects? Best of luck!

Thank you. I shall just carry on at 5mg if adrenals won't work. I have friend who has been on pred since 1997 and he's happy on 5 and pain free!

I know several people who didn't get on with hydrocortisone and switched back to pred
