T tubes

can any1 help me with this question I have To tubes fitted in both ears more than a year ago and after the initial infection days after the operation is have had had no problems....but the last few days my hearing has been distorted and popping when the popping happens the sound changed and volume goes down I have had this in the past but it was before the tubes were fitted and was due to either 1 of 2 thing

fluid behind the eardrum or

wax build up

to my knowledge none of this should happen as there is a constant air flow through the ear but if it's wax would this happen if the tube is covered there is no pain just more annoying I have started using bicarbonate soda drops but it's not making the slightest bit difference

    Hi Chris,

Do you mean you had grommets? These are the only type of Tubes I can think of that would be of any benefit that are put inside the Ear. These are not a permanent fixture, usually they are shedded after around 6months to a Year. Usually these are for Younger people. It sounds like you have fluid in the ear. Can you pop your ears?

hi pistal and sorry for the late reply they are a grommet but they last for years can even be permanent they are longer that a grommet and are shaped like a T hence the name.

I had to end up going to gp and it is just a build up of wax in front of the tube I have the clinic so and will have it suctioned and will be fine for the mean time I will use drops

I had grommets as a child but as you say 6mths so before long I would need them replace the T tubes are great if any one has fluid build up problema

Phew, I hope the suction helps (I can't stand that machine). Not heard of T Tubes, I'll be sure to check them out. I'm currently waiting for a Tympanomastoidectomy sad
