You sound a bit young to be having a hysterectomy I would get a second opinion before going ahead

yes even i think same. i am going for second opinion too in a day or too. But still worried that TAH and BSO is the only option.

Hello i too have 3 small complex cysts on right ovary, did they tell you what was complex about yours ? It's worrying me sick as Dr Google is not being kind to me !! Mine have irregular borders and have thick walls did they tell you anything ?tho I did ask exactly what mine were lol even asked for the report then googled them scared myself silly. please get a second opinion as I'm sure you don't need such an operation yet as there's many things to treat fibroids and they can remove cysts and sometimes they even go away on their own take care Michelle xx

Hi poonam, I am 3rd week post op TAH due to fibroid, polyps and endomentrial cancer. I had both ovaries preserved to avoid surgical menopause as like you, I had yet to touch 40 years old. I have nothing much to comfort you but hope you stay strong during these hard times.

Be strong and do get second opinion before you make a decision. Do update us on your decision...

I had TAH and BSO in same month as my 40th and am now on HRT but apart from whilst I was without it in real early days since I've been on it I feel like I did before but without any pain and any periods to worry about. I also have 2 children. I did go through wobbles about if it was right thing but went along with drs advice in end. It's only been 7 months so I can't comment if it will effect me long term yet but done now so I'll deal with that as and when. But if you don't want it done don't!

Me too but I still get alarmed on every scare story as I can't put it back now lol but tbh I'm glad I've had it done when I weigh it all up. My mum and I were in hospital at same time for same op... though she 70 and hers was for cancer and mine wasnt ( i had severe endo and 20cm ovarian cysts )which made me think I've at least eliminated that risk in the future.

Hi poonham, I agree with the other ladies you are a little young to be having a hysterectomy especially with a BSO it would put you in surgical menapause. Speak with the gyneocologist Hun and ask why they have recommended that route for you.

I am 8 weeks post op from that very same operation I was just as shocked as you trust ne the ladies on here Will tell you, I had such great support. I am recovering very Well I feel exactly the same now as I did before my operation minus the heavy periods and back pain from the fibroid .

go get a second opinion Hun

Let me know how it goes try not to stress, I know easier said than done aye x

Hi, I had a TVH last July at the age of 34, I have kept my ovaries so at least menopause is held off for now. I can only be positive about my experience, yes I was young but I have 2 beautiful babies and though I would have loved more it wasn't really an option. I had a golf ball sized fibroid/polyp on a stalk which was causing all kinds of problems and that added to me having suddenly become intolerant of hormonal contraceptive I didn't have a huge amount of choice. I am definitely on the pro side of having a hysterectomy if needed but it is a choice that each person needs to make having considered all options. I personally have never felt better, though I do get hormal each month and I have become a spotty teenager again but they are small sacrifices compared to how I was before.

Hi Anna, I had TAH mid last month due to endomentrial cancer and stalky stubborn ployps that causes heavy bleeding. I would said that those ployps saved my life too as it triggers a need for hysteroscopy and biopsy result confirming endomentrial adenocarcinoma. Since cancer is early stage, I kept both ovaries.

I remembered waking up after op with very oily facial skin. Did you encounter that? Like you, I am prone to acne now too due to oily skin. My hair scalp is also very oily and I suffered hair lost! Help, did you suffer hair thinning as well? Will this be a short term side effect? Any remedy you have to remedies our oily skin?

Did you suffer or having symptoms of hormone imbalance? Hope to share more of what you experienced with me in the past 6 months. These valuable infor will be greatly helpful to me. At present moment, my whole body is aching, lower abdominal swelling, fatigue and etc. I hope I could start practicing yoga by Week 8 post op but read in the internet that we need to be careful when exercising. Any suggestions on exercise and I guess you are back to the gym by now..

      Hi Sue,

I had a vaginal hysterctomy not abdominal and so my recovery was quicker, however I was advised not to do any form of exercise which involved my stomach for at least 3 months, and I am very glad I waited. There is a small change of prolapse if you put too much strain on that area before the scars/muscles are fully healed. I am now back to running and have started pilates and all feels fine, I was off work for 9 weeks in the end due to pain when driving but felt awful for probably the first 5 weeks then slowly saw an improvement.

I also currently suffer from very greasy hair and am changing my shampoo to make sure that I don't use the "moisturising" ones as my hair does not need any more! I am just about to change my facewash to something with tea tree oil/witch hazel because I remember that helping when I was a teen. I wouldn't be suprised if my ovaries are starting to fail, I was warned that it could happen early but in about 5 years but knowing my luck it will be sooner.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

      Anna xx
