TAH on Monday

Hi I'm going in on Monday for a TAH, oopherectomy(hopefully unilateral) and laporotomy to remember a large cyst. Any tips on recovery after an abdominal hysterectomy? I have been warned it will be a large vertical wound and am a bit anxious about recovery. Anything you found useful or wish you had known before?

I thought I had replied to you veebee!! I had a TAH and cyst removal on 27 November, so I'm 3 weeks post op and feel great! Yesterday I washed the kitchen floor, vacuumed and cooked Sunday roast (under the watchful eye of my OH!) I know everyone is different and I'm lucky in that I have never been ill in my life but I am 69 so have to take that into account.

The wound is about 4 inches from pubic bone to just below tummy button and is really neat and tidy. I thought I'd be past bikini wearing but I'm not!

Try to be positive, it really isn't as bad as you might fear, yes you will be sore, very sore for a few days but with every hour you will feel better. Good luck xx
