Tailbone discomfort

Ah where do i begin. So a few months ago i was having some serious stomach cramps and constipation and i started bleeding a lot which i guess might have been from a fissure or hemorrhoid because sometimes it would also burn. I would see some blood like like every other week. It finally stopped after about a month or two but i started to feel pain when sitting, the pain didn't come from my anus actually it was located a little bit above my left butt cheek near the tail bone i assume. And i noticed that i was still straining during a BM and my stools started to look a little flatter, not paper thin just more squished looking. I went to the doctor for a slightly unrelated thing they used an ultrasound to check my pelvis and was told i had cysts in my ovaries. Now i read that having them can also mess with your bowel movements but i forgot to ask my doctor. She recommended more fiber and half a year later it actually has helped and i no longer see blood or have anal pain but almost every time i have a BM i keep feeling that discomfort in my tail bone and I'm not sure if i should be worried and get another check up.

What did your doctor say about the tailbone discomfort at the time? Are you still straining for a bowel movement? Maybe that is causing the tailbone discomfort? The end part of the colon wraps around the lower part of your spine so any disruption in your bowel can radiate to this region of your back. Perhaps try a stool softener so stools are easier to pass. I wouldn't worry because anxiety can irritate the bowel but if you are still getting this pain, ask your doctor for advice and make an note on your phone of what you want to ask and take it with you to your appointment so you don't forget to mention details to your doctor.Doing this, worked for me because I had lots to ask week in, week out when I was struggling for a diagnosis.

Yea last time i did tell her about the pain it was when i did have constipation and i was prescribed stool softeners. It actually helped and now that i also eat a lot of fiber I'm not as constantly constipated as before. Thank you for the info.

hi namesake, snap! i agree with pippa to an extent, the only thing i wonder is if the doctors have missed a physical problem with your tailbone as opposed to ibs related problem. check this out if i was you sooner rather than later.

I have been thinking about that but there was also a point where the pain stopped for a few weeks and i started to wonder if it was something i was doing when it came back again. But yes next time when i go i will let them know. Thank you

I get this pain sometimes as well. I would call it more pain in the back passage than in the actual tail bone.
Could be IBS related. You could try Colpermin or Buscopan.
You can buy them both over the counter.
If you find them helpful you can get them on prescription.
Hope this helps.
Take care and keep in touch.
