Take 2.

So, here I go again!!

Into hospital at 7am tomorrow morning (17th).

Left TKR this time. I had RTKR in February this year and so far so good. That  doesn't mean that it has been easy, but it seems to have been worth it.

I'm so nervous about tomorrow, and the days to follow. It's okay for people to say," you'll be okay, look how well the last one went." I remember the pain vividly - but anyways, keep your fingers crossed for me and thank you all for your support so far.

Good luck Alison, my second one is going to be October 29th. I am nervous as well. I actually don’t remember the pain, thank God.

    Wishing you the best👍🙏🏻

Alison , I had bilateral TKR 6 weeks ago today . The pain wasn’t really an issue for me , as much less than the pain before surgery . I was on morphine based analgesia for first 4 days then went on  into paracetamol 4 tines daily.

The biggest issue that I’ve had is getting comfy in bed at night, this may be because I’ve had both done .

I’m mobile around house without crutches .but stil need a crutch in the stairs and if I’m walking any distance .

I’m sure your surgery will go fine and wish you a speedy recovery

Oooh - good luck you brave person.....I  said never again after my first last Christmas but it's doing fine now but wouldn't have managed had I not stayed with family - being on my own would have been impossible - certainly in first 4 weeks but would think (and only think) now, about having 2nd one done....eventually....Good Luck - let us know how it goes.....xxx

Hi all, just a wee update. I had number 2 TKR on Friday past. All went well and I was discharged home on Monday evening.

What I will say at this stage is, my two experiences of knee replacement have so far been very different and I wonder if there such a thing as "normal". The first one in Feb 18 was straightforward however the pain was overwhelming and lasted for quite a few weeks.

This time the pain, so far, has been more manageable however I have suffered dizziness, vomiting and general feelings of unwellness. I'm not sure which is easier to tolerate.

I'm keeping up with exercise, elevate and ice and this is helping.

For those of you contemplating your 2nd TKR I'd say go for it. Having a "good leg" (1st TKR) is making such a difference to this recovery, stairs easier, stamina better etc.

Anyway, enough for now. My ability to think is still a bit compromised but I'll keep in touch. xx

That’s great .flad to hear you are feeling better than last time . Your dizziness / nausea maybe due to your pain killers , might be worth speaking to your doc to see if these can be changed to something that won’t caise these side effects.

You’ll be glad it’s over - onwards and upwards
