Taken too many laxatives

This past few days I've been taking an awful lot of dulcolax. Today I am feeling totally ill. How can I avoid feeling like this. I have four young children at home and am not coping too well

You can avoid feeling like that by chilling out on the laxatives and eating lots of celery or activia and excercising! You dont want to become reliant on laxatives and once your stomach is empty, those laxatives are stressful on your sphincter!

I have tried all of the natural remedies for constipation with no success.  I have been taking Ducolax since my big issue with diverticulitis last year because the doctor told me to avoid constipation at all cost to prevent another attack of diverticulitis.  I feel bloated and overall I just feel horrible.  Dark circles under my eyes and can't seem to loose weight no matter how healthy I eat.  I eat a high fiber diet.  I try to drink plenty of water.  I'm going to stop the laxatives.  I take two a day.  Should I cut the dose in half or can I stop both and see what happens?

Omg this is so me, I have been living of about 40 a week at the moment.

I'm going through a tough time at the moment personally so my appetitie is rubbsh, So i think if i don't eat my bowels ain't going to move. So instead I eat around 8 of these tablets a day.  I buy the Asda ones in bulk. I really think they shoud become a controlled medicine, as they can seriously damage people.  Hope you are all ok and get sorted.

My mother in-law has been taking laxatives since she was 16.. she’s now 49... I watch her daily abuse laxatives slowly but surely killing herself.... the last couple days her tummy has been swollen along with her hands... I want her to stop but she won’t.. she has her grandson but she won’t stop for him... my son is going to grow up not knowing her.. she was in the hospital last month a day away from dying... I just want to screammm.. I’m a pharmacy technician.. so I tried to tell her what she is doing isn’t safe.. she told me she knows how to take her medications.. I’m just at lost... and I’m having a hard time leaving my son with her....
