    Hi Dannibec78,

I don't really have any advice but I'm in exactly the same situation as you and take pretty much the same as you sometimes more. I have 2 young boys who are my world and am desperate to come off these pills. After 2 recent hospital stays which was caused by the tablets I've been taking I went to my doctor who referred me to the local drug and alcohol team who have now told me my addiction is not bad enough to warrant any help bearing in mind that I can sometimes take up to 30 a day, so I'm planning on doing it on my own by tapering straight after Christmas. Is this something you think you could do? After speaking to a really nice bloke on here who has done it before, he advised to taper as low as possible and then he just stopped. He recommended a few things to help with symptoms such as magnesium before bed to stop restless legs and other things. This addiction is a horrible one and I've been doing it for over 7 years but I've really had enough. I'm sorry it's not advice as such but I'm certainly going to try my hardest to beat this and would gladly speak on here for a bit of moral support. Emma x

    Hi D,

well done for making the decision to stop, as you have a family I wouldn’t advise going cold turkey. Tapering Down will be much easier although will obviously take longer.the good news is you’re not taking huge amounts, 60+ a day is quite common on here, so your withdrawal will be milder and quicker than people on those amounts. How many to cut down by is a bit hit and miss as people will all react differently, you could try 17 a day for a week then 14, 11 And so on. Some advise only dropping by one pill a week but i think that is over cautious and will take forever. It’s up to you to experiment to find what suits you but as long as your reducing the amount every week you’ll soon be off them.Your body will tell you that you have reduced by too many, usually the first sign is the onset of diarrhoea and stomach cramps, if you start to get this just adjust your intake a little, the whole point of tapering down is that you avoid all the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.I personally would try 16 a day for a few days just to see if your body will be happy, if it is then just go from there trying your own amounts.

i see Emma below is also quitting, why not try it together, moral support and all that.

there are many examples on here for you to read most giving good advice, if you’ve got any questions just ask,

good luck and good luck Emma
