Taking 50mg and 25mg on alternate days to lower dose?

Hey there - female diagnosed with light depression, started Sertraline 50 mg 4 months ago, along with CBT. It made me feel great (the meds initially more than the therapy). However problems with digestion and sleep & physical tiredness persist (there's almost always 1 day in a week that I kinda sleep/laze-through) - it feels I sleep too much. I also have restless limbs before I go to sleep, which is when I take it. I'm thinking maybe a slightly lower dose would be better. My doctor is kind of meh about this. Would alternately taking 50mg and 25 mg be a good idea? Perhaps later, in another 2 months, I could try if 25 mg only works. Or is it better to stay on the same dose for at least 2 more months, despite this? (Doctor says 6 months is minimum to change brain chemistry. I don't even now if that's true or another urban legend that gets traded in my backward country.) I would love to stay on Sertraline forever, if it wasn't for this. I have pills so can't break them to smaller pieces than a half. Or is there any other way to get rid of my effects? What could it be? Grateful for any experience of yours. Thanks!

hi, you could try taking the sertraline when you wake up, instead of before bed (i take mine when i wake up along with a banana)
if your restless legs problem at night wont go away, try taking (if you get it in your country, otherwise something similar): oeseocare tablets (produced by a company called viabiotics) which contain calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3, and zinc. i take one of these tablets a day and it has stopped my restless legs at night (if the tablet is not enough to stop your restless legs, you can instead/also use some magnesium oil, which you rub onto your skin in the evening)
or another way to take your 50mg perhaps is to take 25mg twice a day instead of taking it all at once (perhaps that would help with the tiredness issue)
it's difficult to answer if you would be ok taking 50mg one day and 25mg the next day. i think it's one of those things where you wont know until you try. it's hard to predict because everyone is different and some people require a different dose than others (and on top of that, time to adjust, which i agree with doc, can take quite a few weeks, or even months)

Hey - thank you very much for your reply and sorry for my late reaction! The magnesium is a good idea. I'm using a different tablet (plain & cheap magnesium). Taking 25 mg twice and once a day alterantely is I think a good plan for the future. So far I am taking 50 mg and 25 mg on alternate days and it's working ok for me. My digestion is definitely better, though I tend to sleep a lot when I either drink alcohol (know I shouldn't!) or don't exercise, or both. Taking before bed is definitely better for me though.
