Taking ativan hours after drinking??

Quick question. Three hours after my last beer (6pk) I start to get heart palpitations which I know is normal but still sucks. My question is that is it safe to take 1.5mg of ativan three hours after my last drink or should I wait longer??

Wait longer a little longer. I was always told not to take my benzo while drinking. Not only does it amplify the alcohol it does something to your lungs and possibly cause breathing problems. That's what I was told.

Okay thank you Sway. I called a pharmacist and they didn't think it was a good idea either

How long should i wait for it to be safe?

I would drink a lot of water to flush the alcohol out. If you can wait 8 hours after drinking your last drink that might work.

    Hi Lopez

like the pharmacist says it’s not a good idea. So could you wait untill you know that the alcohol has gone from you system??

Maybe a couple hours or mor3 if you can’t wait longer.

    please be safe.

get more advice if you feel you need it from the pharmacist for help and reassurance

    take care

Drinking is assisting with giving you heart palpitations...  Anxiety is the root.

Alcohol & Benzodiazepine all affect the GABA receptors of the Brain... now add in dehydration, and sugar from beer.

If you haven’t done any CBT therapy or Mindfulness Meditation yet... that’s where to go.

Adivan or any Benzo masks our real problem.

Now if you heart jumps to beat 140-180 bpm and slams back into rhythm... then it’s SVT

      a good workbook is

Thoughts and Feelings: Taking Control of Your Moods and Your Life

Book by Martha Davis, Matthew McKay, and Patrick Fanning

Benzos when out of your system like a hangover that can’t be cured until it passes.  Long term use is like dumping everclear on your brain.

im suffering long term use and not abusing it ..  went from 1 a week... to 3 a week ... then 4...

6 years later .. I’m off and it’s very difficult...

it amolified my heart issues.. had to get an ablation (defect i had minor but got worse)

it's not safe to mix alcohol and benzos I took a bunch of alcohol and valium once and it can collapse your lungs, it almost killed me, luckily though I live still. I'm still concerned with taking my ativan after I drink, I try to spread it out. Just be careful they're both depressants, it would be better to drink coffee, after alcohol it might make you feel a little more awake after drinking, it tends to make me feel better.
