Taking Codeine for Shingles now am constipated now for 10 days

The doctor has prescribed Luctrose or a similar name and it is supposed to soften the stools. I just cannot seem to go, I think the Codeine is counteracting this and fighting against it hence I cannot go. I am usually as regular as clockwork.

I will post this in Shingles as well.

Lactulose can take 24-48 hours to work - codeine is known to cause constipation as a side effect. Senna, which you can buy from chemists works more quickly, about 8-12 hours, so you can take a dose at night to help open the bowels the following morning.

Now on Laxido and still nothing. This is rediculous.

Laxido works similarly to lactulose, so if that hasn't helped, laxido is unlikely to either ! Pop in to your chemist and see if you can get some senna.
