Taking diazepam with mirtazapine

Hi im currently a recovering alcoholic started drinking due to depression as lost my family and started with extreme panic attacks. Ive been on diazepam for 2 years now sometimes up to 10mg a day which im struggling to come off my doctor has put me on mirtazapine and diazepam together, is this safe as its worrying me although she has said to try cut the diazepam down to 5mg a day with 30mg of mirtazapine, please help and thank you

    Taking the two together is not a problem.Your problem is the diazepam usage.You are probably in diazepam tolerance causing withdrawal symptoms.l know it is difficult to taper off diazepam l am doing it at the minute after 10years however l am cutting 1 mg and staying on that for a month.It isn't easy however it is doable.

    Hi , I was on mirtazapine and diazepam. I just tried not to take them both at the same.diazepam oral and mirtazapine oral both increase sedation and drowsiness.

    Im two years on mirtazapine and diazepam.

    i am on about 7mg diaz and theynkeep trying tomget me tomincrease mirtazapine but im just not having success.  Helps sleep but thats all for me.  7.5 is my dosage which they keep telling me is not therapeutic.  I hope you have success on it, do feel you can keep in touch if there are Ny queries

    Hi I had a major problem with alcohol. Sober 12 yrs. was put on diazapam also as my withdrawals from alcohol where horrendous. I drank due to anxiety, when stopped drinking anxiety was worse, but would never go back to the living hell of drinking every day just to get through the day or just wanting to pass out and get another day out of the way. Getting off diazapam you should be tapered, 10mg down to5mg then 2, then every other day etc, shouldn't affect your other meds but keep in contact with gp if you have bad symptoms just to reasure you??

    I have been on diazepam for 15 years just started on mirtazapapine. I was just using diazepam as needed not very often but now needed it more now that i am on mirtazapapine. Seeing doctor soon hoping she will change mirtazapapine.

    i was checking if i could take them together, as just gone back on mirtazapine after being prescribed again? after taking them the first time i just crashed for two days, the dr has put me back them i take half of one 15mg. Anyway i checked you & you can. i was goggle if i mixing something with something like you cant tramadol with mirtazapine. You can google it, but it will confusion, tiredness - look it up it gives what happens when you mix the both. The answer is yes but dont plan to go anywhere. Good luck and well done the drink!!
