Taking less venlafaxine and more prozac and feeling crappy.

In the past month I began with my dr to decrease venalfaxine and add prozac because the venlafaxine stopped working.  I became depressed while on it and felt I neeed ssomething elsse.  Since the beggining of may I've gone from 225 mgs venlafaxine to 75 mgs....while titrating up to 30 mgs prozac.  I realize this mixed titrating could wreak havoc.  the goal was to get onto prozac in the hopes it would be effective whereas venlafaxine wasn't

But through this time I've been experiencing more restlessness, especially in the late afternoon and  a complete shutdown of appetite.  I notice I'm still kind of depressed as well and unable to derive pleasure or joy from anything or anyone.  These feelings of restlessness have gotten worse since the switchover started.

Has anyone experienced restlessness, anxiety, loss of appetite from starting prozac?  Has anyone experienced this from lowering venlafaxine?  I'm wondering what the root cause of this is.  Or is it both?  Is it temorary.  Perhaps I need more prozac?

Could the concurrent reduction of venlafaxine and the addition of prozac combined be causing all this?  Perssonal relatable experience a plus to this.  Thank you all.

    Hi, Jim

I have not taken venalfaxine, but I know for sure  that prozac does produce all of those symptoms. It can take a while for the side effects to go away, but eventually they will. Hope you feel better soon.

Hopefully then the prozac will be more effective and more tolerable in the near future for me.  Thank you.

Jim, I'm feeling the same just from starting Prozac - I've never taken anything else for depression or anxiety before. Keep at it - I'm told the side effects stop after a few weeks. We're all right there with you. Good luck xx

Hi Jim, I'm in a similar boat, I am coming off mirtazapine and going onto Prozac, I feel bloody dreadful with what I believe is a mixture of mirt withdrawal and Prozac start up effects. Either way it feels like it's not going to end, but I have been told by my doctor that when the Prozac kicks in within a few weeks I should start to feel better and I can continue my withdrawal from the mirt. Think it's a case of hanging in there until the Prozac takes over, wishing you well

I hope this does come to an end.  This starting four weeks ago.  I don't think this will ever end.

    Hi Jim

I am going through the same thing. I was on Effexor Xr 112 mgs and it stopped working. They upped dosage but my bp went so high. They cross tapered to Prozac. At first 10 mgs, then 20 mgs. It has been four weeks on 20 and i still dont feel good. Thinking it needs to be bumped up to 40. I am sooo upset.
