Taking 100mg Sertraline every morning about 8-9am start feeling irrated, tired and just all round groggy by about 1pm find it really difficult to focus on things I need to do like University Essays/Reports. Does this eventually go away been taking the medication for 3 weeks now.

The 100mg of Quetiapine seems to be doing its job as I am asleep no longer than 1 hour after taking it however the sweats during the night are really bad I wake up absouluty soaking and cold wondering weather it is even worth taking the medication.

anyone expirence this?

    Hi,

Sorry, I have never taken Quetiapine but I am taking Sertraline 25mg.  I started 13 days ago and the first few days it made me extremely tired, but now is getting better.  I was taking it at 3PM and was sleeping good the first few nights, then it made a quick turn around and was giving me insonmia so now I'm pulling back the hours I take it so I can take it in the morning just like you.  I believe this medication takes like 6 hours to kick in and about 2-4 weeks. Maybe you should ask your Doc to lower your dose.

    Hi there,

That is a high dose to start off with. In my experience if you play around with the dose it might help. For example if you take half in the morning and half at night. Or just try taking it in the morning and see how that goes. It is still early days for the meds to take full effect, and although in do not know the reasons for your medication I dont know why anyone is started on 100mg. I would suggest speaking with your GP about 50mg to see how you get on and then up the dose if needed. These meds can be a shock to the system so you have to ease into them, plus you dont want to be taking more than necessary.

I am now in the process of weaning off sertraline but had been on antidepressants for anxiety for 6 years. I never needed to take more than 50mg of sertraline. In my experience finding the dose and time to take it makes all the difference. These meds made me very tired during the day so I found taking it at night helped a little but everyone is different.

    I wish you well

Hi Alan I also am coming off it and I'm finding the withdrawal quite a bumpy ride, I have started exercising and I feel that gets rid of the tension , hope it goes well, take care.

Hi, I sympaphise with you, Sertraline does not work for a lot of patients, and some it works very well. Thats why you will see Sertraline mentioned alot on this forum. To me it was a terrible drug, and make mne very ill. As for Quetiapine, this has worked like a charm. Yes, there are some draw backs like you feel pretty sleepy in the morning, but otherwise I cant complain. 100mg is a low dose, speak to your doc about increasing the dosage. Good luck, Rob

Hi, my experience was so rough I stopped taking them , I was on 50mgs per day for 6 weeks and I couldn't handle the sweats, even the soles of my feet were sweating ! It's a very strange feeling I went from an enormous high to a very bad low in the matter of weeks. I was given them for anxiety but they deffo didn't work for me. Go back to your docs , take care x
